Trafalgar Square lies in the heart
of London and is flanked by important monuments and buildings. Serving
as the focal point of Trafalgar Square and commemorating Napoleon's defeat
at sea in 1805, is the 50 m tall Nelson Column towers with four
bronze lions laying at the base.
One can relax by one of the fountains,
watching London traffic, tourists and pigeons go by. The Square
has been a stage for many political debates and it also a popular spot
for revellers on New Year's Eve. Nearby, you will find the
National Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery.
