On the 1st of April 2009, two new high-speed railways are to be opened. The first new railway is more than 350km long and is a passenger railway, running between Hefei and Wuhan. This railway, along with the Heifei-Nanjing, will connect Central China to East China. Because of the new railways, passengers also have to travel much less. The estimated travel time is about three hours, gaining eight hours less travel. The train has a speed of 250kph.
The second high-speed railway is a railway between Shijiazhuang and Taiyuan with 190km in length. This railway connects the north and west. Currently, the travel between Hebei and Shanxi will take you about five hours. After the second high-speed railway has come become operational, the travel will only take you about one hour.
Following the new railways, the flight and bus ticket prices will be reduced. Today, 200 bullet trains run through China, connecting all the major cities.
