AEX in Trouble, Amsterdam, Netherlands
The Amsterdam Stock Exchanges decreased to a low point of 216.5 points at around 15.00. This could be witnessed in Amsterdam, the capital city of the Netherlands where the AEX is based. The large plunge means a total decrease of 3.2% or 7.1 points from the previous level.
Times may seem bad in Amsterdam, but they were equally bad for the other European Stock Exchanges. The CAC in Paris, DAX in Frankfurt and FTSE in London all experienced a decline of 3-3.7%. Uncertainty is the prominent feeling in all stock exchanges as the economists continue to predict a grim economic forecast.
Fluctuations are common in times of economy uncertainty and stock exchanges create an array of mixed emotions ranging from hope of economic growth to depression. The Netherlands have experienced these mixed feelings as the stock exchanges have fluctuated dramatically during the crisis.

Economists predict that the near future will not look better. They are saying that the results of the first quarter will be horrible. However, the results at the end of 2009 are anticipated to be better than currently. Some economists say that the 200 point barrier will mark an ultimate low point and economic growth will begin soon after hitting this rock bottom.
During times like this people are constantly surrounded by horrible financial data, news on people losing their jobs and an overall sense of uneasiness falls upon everyone.
Just recently the US Bank Citigroup and British Lloyd’s Banking Group were represented in negative headlines. Also because the stock price of the ING group decreased by 14% and the Eagon bank experienced a decrease, the AEX Amsterdam Exchange took a large dip in points.
